Here is how it works:
- Contact an agent, broker or insurance companyAn agent, broker, or insurance company that offers a SHOP Marketplace Plan can help you apply for SHOP eligibility, find and compare available SHOP plans, and tell you how much these will cost.
- EnrollOffer your employees coverage, then make sure those who accept it submit their enrollment forms to the agent, broker, or insurance company. You don’t need to wait for a SHOP eligibility notice. You can sign up and begin offering coverage any time during the year.
- Claim your tax creditIf you meet the requirements for the expanded Small Business Health Care Tax Credit, you’ll apply for it when you submit your tax return for 2014. To claim the credit, you’ll need to have your SHOP eligibility notice from the SHOP Marketplace.
